Pledging
Pledging is a process that can range from five to six weeks depending on the chapter. During that time, we ask that our potential new members familiarize themselves with our history, codes of conduct, and traditions. Most importantly, the pledging period is the time when you will get to know your future brothers. Our Pledges are involved in all of our fraternity's activities — from social events to philanthropy activities to annual alumni banquets. The more actively you participate, the better your experience, as a Pledge of Phi Kappa Pi will be.
Time management means something different when you get to university than it did in high school. You now have so much available time on your hands that you can either use it or waste it. We do ask that our potential new members commit time and effort to our fraternity — as with any organization, you will only get out of it what you put into it. However, we will never ask that you put the fraternity ahead of your studies. Phi Kappa Pi strives to instill responsibility in all of its Brothers. That responsibility begins in the classroom.
A quick glance at our membership will reveal many "legacies" in our fraternity — Grandfathers to Fathers, Fathers to Sons. However, it is important to remember that each Brother of Phi Kappa Pi joins on his own merits. Whom you are related to (or even friends with) is not important. It's who you are as a person that counts.
We do not haze. Phi Kappa Pi Brothers are proud, respectable men that do not demean themselves with adolescent displays. Nothing is learned through hazing and nothing is gained. As a Pledge, you will be exposed to many time honoured Phi Kappa Pi traditions and will often be invited to participate. Under no circumstances will you ever be forced or coerced into doing something you do not want to do. Trust and respect are two very important principles in a Phi Kappa Pi chapter house. You will know this the minute you step through our doors.
Fraternity recruitment takes place 365 days per year. Phi Kappa Pi is always looking for quality young men to join "Canada's Only National Fraternity". Please take the time to contact us and a Phi Kappa Pi Brother on your campus will be in contact shortly.
